In a city that constantly defines where we belong, each artist claims a space of their own.
A study of individuality within structure.
In a city like New York, space is never neutral. We are constantly placed into rooms, roles, systems, and expectations. “28 Units of Expression” brings together 28 artists, each assigned an identical display unit. Within this shared structure, each artist presents a single work, an expression formed within constraint.
The exhibition reflects on how individuality exists under limitation. Each unit becomes a temporary site of presence, where personal language, identity, and emotion emerge within a predefined framework.
In a city that continually organizes and compresses its inhabitants, these works pose a question:
What does it mean to remain an individual within a system?
TIME TO PAINT NYC, in collaboration with A SPACE Gallery, invites emerging artists to apply for a curated group exhibition in New York.
We are seeking works that explore individuality, identity, and personal expression in the context of urban life, particularly how one situates oneself within the city's structures.
Eligibility: Open to all Visual Artists in all media.
Maximum size: 17 × 20 inches
Number of artists: 28 (Up to 2 works per artist)
