Evidence of Contact
- Group Exhibition at A Space Gallery
Presented by @p79project × @aspace____
A worn wall, a footprint, a layer of dust, a shadow.
What we encounter is often only the result of an action that has already taken place. Cracks, stains, reflections, coverings, and impressions remain as traces of something that once occurred, while the forces that produced them are often no longer present.
Evidence of Contact focuses on the marks that persist on surfaces. A surface is not merely the outer layer of an object; it can also become a record of time, use, environment, and bodily presence. A place, an object, or a space may reveal its history through the changes accumulated upon its surface.
P79 Project invites artists to apply for Evidence of Contact, a curated group exhibition at A Space Gallery in New York. We are seeking works that consider moments that have already passed, are currently unfolding, or are on the verge of disappearing, and explore how such moments remain as traces within materials, objects, spaces, bodies, and everyday experiences.
