Korissa Frooman
Korissa Frooman (b. Cincinnati, Ohio, 1999) is a Brooklyn based anti-disciplinary artist whose work focuses on the traces of what we leave behind. Leaning into the spaces between mediums, Frooman explores texture and materiality in an ode to the ever-changing interplay of presence and past. Frooman’s work is a physical manifestation of liminal spaces — an in-between space created through a heavy hand of curated chance.
Frooman is heavily influenced by her background in fashion design, incorporating techniques and materials from the industry. Curating objects as an extension of oneself, Frooman introduces the souls of lives adjacent through touch. The abandoned objects of the past bring many lives into each work—floating in the ghostliness left behind, the soul of everyone who touched.
Using bodily materials, such as latex and sausage casings, Frooman weaves the body into a new space. Fusing bodily materials with found objects, Frooman combines the viewer with the work itself, with the found objects and those who owned the objects originally.
Frooman’s work is held in private collections across Paris, New York, and Naples.
