CALL FOR ENTRY — “Dolls Don't Cry” : We’re opening submissions for a group show on January 9th, 2026 to January 17th, 2026
Dolls Don’t Cry explores the evolving role of emotional objects in contemporary life. No longer confined to bedrooms or display shelves, these objects now accompany us—on desks, in transit, during travel, and within everyday social settings. Their stability and controllability allow people to project stress, fatigue, or loneliness onto them and receive a moment of quiet relief in return.
Silent and unresponsive, emotional objects become malleable presences. They absorb emotions, carry stories, shape relationships, and participate in the negotiation of care, dependence, and control. They exist both as consumer items and as miniature emotional vessels that help us navigate the pressures of modern living.
This exhibition invites artists working in painting, textiles, installation, photography, video, and performance to explore the possibilities of emotional objects as sites of projection and attachment. These works investigate the shifting boundaries between object and companion, control and dependence, and reveal the subtle emotional dynamics embedded in contemporary life.
